CAE Secures US Army Advanced Helicopter Training Support Deal

CAE Defense & Security has secured a contract to provide training support services for advanced rotary-wing aircraft operators in the US Army.

The $180-million deal includes “comprehensive” instructor pilot, maintenance evaluator, and non-rated crewmember training for approximately 900 aviators.

Participants will include both American and foreign nationals requiring instruction on Boeing CH-47F Chinook and AH-64E Apache helicopters, as well as the Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk.

The program is expected to double the number of UH-60 instructors and expand training support to accommodate the growing number of students.

CAE will oversee associated activities for an initial one-year period, with the potential to continue through 2030 if all contract options are exercised.

The company will execute the program in coordination with the US Army Aviation Center of Excellence and the 110th Aviation Brigade, which lead the service’s flight training efforts.

“CAE is committed to training excellence, ensuring that Army aviators are prepared for the arduous mission ahead,” CAE Defense & Security USA Division President Merrill Stoddard said.

“From high-fidelity simulation and advanced technologies to critical aircraft flight training, CAE is a trusted partner in the modern aviation journey, developing the skills and confidence pivotal to force readiness.”

Since 2021, CAE has delivered support services, classroom instruction, and simulators for the US Army’s helicopter flight training program, covering both aerial combat and logistics.

Its facility in Dothan, Alabama, trains over 500 Army and Air Force pilots annually, while its full-flight simulators and collective training platforms support CH-47F and UH-60M instruction at other tactical aviation school sites.
